Argiope trifasciata (Michael D. Campbell [August 8, 2007])Location: McCordsville, Buck Creek Township, Hancock County, Indiana Date & Time: August 8, 2007; 18:50 hours, Habitat: Shrub bed & shade garden, Predominant vegetation: summersweet, great blue lobelia, sensitive fern  Details: First argiope seen this year, a large immature female with her web hung between the branches of a summersweet about 1 meter above ground level.  Next day two more discovered approximately 6 meters away in wildflower garden and a fourth would be found in wildflower garden within a week, all with webs no more than half a meter high in obedient plant and coneflowers.
