I remember when my son was about 13, one of his friends was terrified of spiders so I showed him the large black jumper I had just noticed in the window. Of course he had the huge eyes which appeared almost green. But it could have been his chelicera, spelling wrong again, but you know what I mean. When he saw me approach he jumped about what seemed like a foot to me. Years before I had a run in with an audacious jumping spider in my bathroom.He had a red spot on his abdomen. This guy actually challenged me by rising up and waving either his front legs or pedipalps at me. I caught him in a glass and transported him back to his natural habitat, but I think he was cussing me all the way. I have more carefully sealed my house since then.
