As I walked to my car this afternoon I noticed a huge spider web with an enormous spider.  I took photos to share with my 6-year old who is deathly afraid of spiders.  The yellow pattern was striking, so I hoped to find out the species with an internet search.  That is how I found your website and I am excited that I found a spider you are searching for.

The web is very large and has 3 layers.  The spider's size is relative to the bricks.  The web is by our side door, nowhere near a garden.  We do have a few crepe myrtles and hydrangeas in the area.

I was working on our rental property and saw an interesting spider ive never seen before. I did some web search and found your sight and the spider i saw looked similair to the "yellow garden spider". What a coincidence that it was one of the 9 you were looking for sightings. I dont usually care for spiders but this one is unique. Hope you enjoy the photos!!

I have a female Argiope aurantia in my hummingbird/butterfly flower bed.  She moves around a little but seems to prefer to make her web betwenn the black eyed susans and sedam.  Other vegetation present includes torch lilies, shasta daisies, and purple coneflowers.

Argiope aurantia (katy k davis [Sep 19, 2007])I have a yard full of these! I love them, so beautiful. I had 6, two of them have disappeared. Left behind a jumble of web and leaves. Babies? I have woods surrounding my backyard, they love it.
