At first I thought she was some fallen petals. I have to admit, I had never seen a yellow spider in my yarn, nor anywhere in Nebraska! Of course, I wasn't looking either! I am now utterly and completely under her spell. Over the next few days, I would visit "her" planter and take a few pictures. I researched her online and discovered that she was indeed a "she" and a Misumena vatia, whom I now affectionately call "Mena". I admit to shooing flies in her direction. I was utterly thrilled to watch her pounce and catch one. If I go outside and don't find her on her favorite flower, I am upset... and I wonder if she is okay. It is my fascination with something new. I am never too old to learn about something in this world, and it's even better when something wonderful can be found just outside my front door. I have moved her planter across the driveway to the sedum plant where there are MANY bees, and she quickly and excitedly left her yellow flower and stalked a bee! It was amazing to see her take on a bee so much larger than herself. I checked on her today... and she was quite happily munching on yet another bee. I hope to be able to keep track of her and watch her loose her yellow pigment and turn white, and capture the changes with my camera!

Hanging out on a domesticated daylily plant surrounded by open lawn bordered by trees and field. He was very shy, on the underside of the flower, had to be coaxed out.
Very small, perhaps 3 mm length total.

I think this is a goldenrod crab spider. Correct me if I'm wrong. I wanted to get a better picture but it got away.

This lady was in residence on a bushy peony, taking advantage of the many rose chafers that were attacking the flowers. I observed her on the same flower for 2 days and did not see her again.

The peonies were located next to steps coming down from a parking area buttressed by large rocks where wild plantstend to take. Open lawn bordered by trees and field.

I'm sure this is the fellow I brought into the house on some elderberry blooms. I was unaware of him until I noticed movement. I put him or her outside because no good would come to him or her in here. He closely resembled the mint and lavender one I saw on a thistle.

I found four large female Misumena vatia while on my spider walk today.  All four were solid white.  One was hiding in a pink butterflyy bush flower spike, one was on a white butterfly bush, one was between the petals of a coreopsis plant in my shade garden and the last was on a catnip flower cluster.
