I'm starting to see plenty more of this species on the south-facing walls and structures in my yard. Oftentimes, these individuals are in plain sight, in full sun, during the hottest times of the day. It makes you wonder how they are able to retain water, especially with their black bodies.

Was in between the window panes for a couple days, then he finally made his way through a crack to the inside... was pretty interesting, haven't really been fond of spiders in the past, but thought this one was pretty funny.  Have never seen a spider so animated at looking around, calculating.  Probly not accepted practice... but i ended up putting him in a container and bringing him home, lol.  Gave him a few really small insects and got to see him pounce on on them and win the struggle... pretty cool, guess i'll release him tomorrow.

Salticus scenicus (Bev Wigney [Jun 14, 2007])A male and two females have been roaming around on the sunny, west-facing exterior wall of our house for about a week. The spiders are reliably seen there or on a hydrangea growing beside the house at most times of the day.
